Our mission is to train remote and regional Indigenous people how to cut, colour and style hair.
Deadly Hair Dude’s business is to train remote and regional Indigenous people how to cut, colour and style hair.
Deadly will see, hear and understand each of the trainees as individuals and as integral members of our community. We believe our job is more than a pay check. It is a source of self respect, pride and identity. Deadly seeks to guide each trainee a pathway to practising a trade that they can be proud of.
Deadly will do this:
Our purpose is to train remote Indigenous hairdressers and establish hairdressing salons

The communities are shaping the plan and we are ready to respond by training the future hairdressers and then the future trainers to meet the needs of the community.
We work in conjunction with traditional owners, elders and community members and listen to their future strengthening plans.
Our capability goes beyond hairdressing and we are excited for a future of self determination with capacity built in communities.
Our community capacity building model sees “7 Stages of Success” with the perpetual cycle building hairdressing capability. We have high presence, visibility and input in the first phase and then over time, Deadly Hair Dude provides a diminishing ongoing input whereby our involvement drops to 10%.
Deadly provides hair cuts and colours in community.
Students who show enthusiasm and talent are given 2 - 3 days of practical training using the mannequins and learn to handle and use the equipment.
Students who have undertaken the trial training are encouraged to learn more about colouring and the art of hairdressing. They become confident in expressing their ability through supervised cutting and colouring and coaching sessions from Deadly Hair Dude trainers and coaches.
Over two to three months of community visits, a portfolio of work, learning, listening and assessment of how to build confidence in their ability. All elements of hairdressing are introduced such as hygiene, safety standards and customer interactions.
We begin the Certification journey, providing a supportive and culturally appropriate environment either in Darwin or on our visits to remote Indigenous communities. We have a dedicated coach/trainer as well as other Indigenous student mentors.
We work towards full qualification for those who wish to continue to further their studies.
